John you are mistaken - Russian provocation like Russian aircraft downing intelligence drones and killing of Georgia soldiers was going on for several months - the fact that it did not make headlines in the Western Hemisphere is another matter - the start of a war was obvious to many in the region. As to puppet regimes – what about Belarus or the separatist in Georgia? and the list goes on
