What evidence is there that speculation played any significant role in the runup of prices? Even Greenspan, who has claimed speculation WAS a factor, ends up explaining it in terms of supply and demand.

If not speculation then how did Bush bring down the prices? Bush didn't change the supply/demand one iota.
