You asked about the second Georgian, that was the bloody NKVD head Beria, who killed 50 million folks inside Soviet Union in purges, 2.5 times more than the number citizen who died in WWII. Most if not all of the genocide and SU crusades happened when Stalin/Beria were in charge. The conflict ended, so it seems there were no goals other than what Russia stated. That was the point. No new leader in Georgia was installed Georgia was not assimilated into Russia. Soviet Union was not re-created. Etc. All this paranoid stuff. Evidently irrelevant.
