The selling may be overdone. page 59 The chip- equipment stocks came unglued, with big declines in companies like AMAT and KLAC. Perhaps this was an overreaction, though. Dick Greene, principal analyst at SEMI. notes that orders in September rose 3.9% from August. and have now increased 26% since April. " Business shows no sign s of softening,'' Greene says. "Orders have been growing on a fairly straight line. When prices slip, especially for DRAMs , the manufactures sramble to upgrade their capacity."
