The problem with that is of course the accelerated pace of stock-price growth in the years since 1995. IBM has kept up with the recent expectations through restructuring and has now signalled it will do another restructuring of sorts. Its top line is not growing, the overall growth is ceded to the smaller companies where margins will be lower. I think one double per decade is all IBM can handle.
