Interesting article Basserdan - urge all to read it. It shows how certain reporters appear to have been "captured" by the hedge funds and defenders of manipulative short selling.

One has to wonder whether these reporters get together in panic or whether there are calls to all of them to "get on it."

Here's another interesting attack piece, contemporaneous with the spotlight on limiting abusive short selling, from one of the leading financial reporters. In essence, the writer gloats that Overstock points out as a risk in their SEC filings that the CEO (and, consequently, the company) is a target of the self-styled "cyber sleupps" because he chooses to speak about these issues. I.e., these defenders of free speech and internet posting admit that they will punish his company if he keeps at it. Freedom for their scam is ok, but everyone must be silent or they will pay the ultimate price.

Additionally, Dr. Patrick Byrne and the company have fostered and supported a national debate concerning illegal trading practices called “naked short selling” and have advocated regulatory changes and enforcement action designed to end these practices. The profile of the company and Dr. Byrne, and their positions on issues associated with the debate, may make the company and Dr. Byrne the target of criticism and derision in the financial markets and associated media, and this may prove to have an adverse effect on the company’s stock price.
