James, i usually don't post on this thread but your post was so moronic I felt compelled. VISX will make it or not in the long run based on the number of proceedures for which they get royalties. To use the often business school cited example of Gillette the machines are the razors and the proceedure royalty are the blades. The key indicator is the growth in proceedures which pay royalties which is showing strong consistent growth. IMHO this will continue as black boxes are taken out of the system and the major laser centers which use VISX machines expand. If I have one criticsm of VISX it is that they should be selling the machines at even lower prices with better terms in order to increase the growth in proceedures. Obviously this would benefit BEAM as well.
