i have a question to the board.

when one wants to (legally) short a stock, one should borrow it first and sell it.
what happens when the owner of the lent stock wants to sell it?
does the broker who lent the stock on behalf of the owner to the short have to borrow the same stock from some other broker, or can they call the short to cover the borrowed shares?

thanks in advance.
