I don't think battery power REPLACES petroleum in the near term, don't get me wrong. But I do think these vehicles will appeal to a lot of commuters. If they're going to be getting 200km to begin with, it won't be long until they're doing twice that.

How can Nissan be getting 125 miles out of its batteries and GM only 40 miles [according to CJ] with the Volt?
