Well, one has to take out soybeans out of the Brazilian 'grain' production figures elmat has suggested because as everyone knows soybeans are not a grain. That's about 60 million tons this year.

One has to wonder what other beans, legumes, etc., went into the Brazilian 'grain' figure for elmat's sources are clearly wrong. I am not about to spend too much time drilling down into the correct ones.

But to get back on-point, I saw some figures indicating that Ukraine has a lot of fallow, fertile land which is ideal for grain production, particularly wheat. As Haim pointed out, Ukrainians have got to be very nervous now for the Russian bear is showing its teeth and claws.
