USSR didnt committ aggression. They were putting nuke missiles into cuba. It was done because US missiles were in Turkey and once again the russian border is key to understanding how they think. Moving out the unstable jupiters was beneficial to the US. They should never have been placed there. It was a huge deal to the russians and if our folks understood their thought process better, we never would have gotten that close. We are lucky it didnt lead to war in turkey much less cuba.
