Lawrence I don't know where you are coming from, but their was no suggestion on this thread that Intel, or we, were "conspiratorial" for stating that we believed that management seemed to be making an effort to present a conservative picture in its guidance for Q4. Nor do I believe, that anyone here attempted to insult Intel's management. Surely not on this thread (g). However, I do believe, if you go back and read my post, you will find that I merely implied that for Intel to have bought back 2.5 Million shares, at a price of over $100/share, they must have been very confident in their future. Since Intel only traded above $100 four days in Q3. August 6, 7, 20, and 21, Intel could only have bought back their stock on one of these days. I was trying to make the point that since all four days were relatively late in the quarter, Intel must have felt very good about their future on at least one of those dates. In no way does that contradict my belief that you got lucky with your selling Intel in July. At least the second unforeseeable event, I am sure, contributed significantly to your cause. However, both events occurring either in, or just before the Third Quarter, compounded each others impact. Jules |
