Ann - I'm just catching up and want to ponder your previous post to me (on russia and iran) before responding (sometimes I ponder into silence, btw). This is somewhat related to the Saddleback thing as has religious overtones... I read about the McCain 'the one' ad and then saw it on one of the news channels... now being in Alabama, I am fairly versed in old-time religion and people who look to the anti-christ days and the second-coming, etc. Might not be my thing, but they are serious about it, and in general quite decent people... no more 'bad' ones than in the rest of the world. but those things are serious to them. i'm wondering with the ad, which appalled me - not because it's about obama but i felt a mocking edge to it - if it doesn't come across as mocking those beliefs. McCain is known to be rather not all that into religion, certainly not tent-revival religion. I felt insulted on behalf of people who take such things to heart rather than it making a serious stab at Obama. I could see non-religious laughing at it and maybe thinking twice about Obama. and, no... i've heard nothing from people who hold deeply those beliefs what they think of it. so i'm just a'pondering right now.
