Steve , the MERCED chip Intel and HP are going to produce is risc architecture .
they are making statements about clock speed starting at 500 mhz or higher and going over 1 Ghz . As both Intel and AMD have it seems difficulty ramping the clock speed of their CISC/RISC cpus that is the real difference between their not so good speed range and DEC's much higher speed must be their architecture and not DEC's superior wafer processing , IMHO ,
