I think we go through periods of stagflation, hyperinflation and even some disinflation for a very long time. Not much different from the past 40 years other than the cumulative debts of the US are at the top of the range relative to GDP.. Oddly the perception of lower oil and commodity prices as being deflation would set the stage for another real economy boom.. A no win for deflationists in any scenario...lol But most likely the 'stag' part will be the dominant theme coming out of the current credit crunch putting a lid on any real GDP upticks we've had since 1982....
