My friends, Uh, I would like yo' opinion on dis:
Phone call . Survey.
Questions about fav/unfavorable opinion on Bush/Pelosi/local congressperson! Same fav/unfav on major issues. Ranking of major issues.
After about 20-40 questions, I interrupted: "IS this going to take LONG? HOW MANY MORE QUESTIONS?"
A: "That depends on how you answer the questions"(!)
Me: OK (dejectedly)
Mo' questions, THEN:
"Yo' congressperson voted to approve a needle exchange program in Warshington, DC. Does this make yo' opinion of them mo' favorable or less favorable?"
"Yo' congressperson supports gay marriage, fav or unfav?" (Paraphrasing here)
Then I INTERRUPTED:
"Yo' know what yo' is doing? This is a PUSH POLL. Yo' is PUSH POLLING ME! Does yo' know what is a push poll?"
"Sir, I am just taking a survey. Would you please let me continue?"
"Yo, a push poll is when yo' is asking questions, not trying to find out answers, yo' is trying to persuade me to vote a certain way. Where is yo' from? Is yo' from ATLANTA?"
"Sir, I am just taking a survey."
"Where is yo' from , ATLANTA?"
"No , I is from HOUSTON."
"Well, let me tell yo' something. Yo' is PUSH POLLING ME. Yo' is trying to get me to vote REPUBLICAN. Yo' job is to call people up and try to get folks to vote REPUBLICAN. If YO' WANTS OBAMA TO GETS ELECTED, YO' MO' BETTER BEST THINK HARD BOUT YO' JOB CAUSE YO' JOB IS TO GETS FOLKS TO VOTE REPUBLICAN."
"Sir, would you like to continue with the survey?"
"Well, I guess not." Then i hang up.
THEN I'm thinking, "Why is a po' young black gal calling folks up trying to get them to vote for REPUBLICANS? She must be really hard up to do such a thing, there goes hope and change right there." "Lets hope she gets some morals and change her job!"
THEN I'm thinking "That dirty scoundrel REPUBLICAN running against my DEMO congressperson is running PUSH POLLS. WHY HE DO THAT? DIRTY TRICK=NASTY."
My friends, uh, HERE IS MY, uh, POLL:
WAS THIS PHONE CALL :
A. Legitimate survey.
B. Legitimate survey to determine issues to use in TV ads.
C. Push Poll paid for by Rep to smear Dem incumbant.
D. Push Poll paid for by Dem to trick Rep voters into thinking Rep is running push polls therefore lowering his favourability rating causing staunch Republicans to vote for the Demo?
E. Other..Pls attach explanation.

I find it interesting I can determine race and gender over the phone when so often we are unable to determine said traits visually. |
