Re: n.hand compatibility with Zip

Gottfried, this isn't really directed to you. But several people have brought up questions about this.

Here's the story on n.hand disks being used in Zip drives,as I understand it.

When the n.hand was originally announced, back in November of last year, Iomega said that they planned to make n.hand readable in a "future version" of the Zip drive, using a "caddy," much like VHS-C tapes are playable in VHS video tape recorders.

Lately, Iomega has appeared to back off on that. The n.hand page on the website no longer says anything about compatibility with Zip. It is possible that they found that it was just too difficult to engineer.

I have seen no mention of n.hand compatibility with Zip Plus in any press release I have read.

So at this point we just don't know whether n.hand will be compatible in any way with any version of Zip. It would be great, but it may not happen.
