Man bought minors vodka before fire, troopers say
Wednesday, August 20, 2008

State police have released additional details about the alcohol purchase linked to the April death of a 17-year-old Cazenovia girl.

Trevor J. Tormey, 22, of Erieville, who was ticketed this week for three counts of unlawfully dealing with a child, is accused of purchasing a 1.75-liter bottle of vodka for three girls under the age of 21, state police Investigator David Verne said.

Verne said Tormey did not drink with the others and did not join them at the DeRuyter Reservoir cottage where several people were gathered on April 27 before the place caught fire.

Julia Parker died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

She was a senior at Cazenovia High School. Toxicology tests showed that Parker's blood alcohol content was 0.18 when she died, troopers said. The legal limit for driving while intoxicated is 0.08.
