I wouldn't characterize Brinker's comments as trashing CPQ. I heard his program and what he said was that he felt the multiple was too high for a company that is "just" a box maker. He is concerned about the recent growth in PE's in this industry.

If you know Brinker you know he is very keen on a company having a proprietary technology to hang its hat on. Compaq does not have that. Of course it has the manufacturing know how but that isn't what Brinker is interested in recommending.
