Karen, I just caught a clip of the life story of Lugot and he received a scholarship to attend the University of Washington as a Kenyan runner. I'll wager most of the athletes in the Olympics who attend American Universities receive a scholarship.

In other words, we as taxpayers give foreign citizens free room, board and tuition to attend college, so they can then compete against us in the Olympics.

Or looked at another way. An American kid who's worked hard and trained for a particular sport like Track and Field (hint inner city poor kids) is denied that same free scholarship to a University, so the University can give it to a foreigner.

We then train our Olympic competitors!

Does this make sense to any American?? I'll bet Russia, China, Japan and others don't offer the same free education. Nor does the incredible military superpower New Zealand. :-)

How about this one, Veterans groups and military members have been fighting for 20 years for the New GI Bill, which provides free college to servicemembers. And during that same time, American Universities have been giving free scholarships to foreign track and field athletes, swimmers, etc, so they can compete against us in the Olympics.

Beam me up Scotty!
