OT

If it were, the US with stagnant or declining real wages would be much better positioned in the world economy.

Total compensation per employee is up (well maybe not this year things aren't that great right now, but generally) its just a lower percentage of this compensation is in wages. (Also inflation adjustment is a very inexact thing, so except perhaps over the very long run its hard to really tell reliably what real wages are doing)
