You asked has they been used in those 67 million acres. Generally such a question does not imply every single acre, but rather any of the acres.

They have been used when there has been preliminary evidence to think oil may be present. You don't just try to blanket all available areas with expensive equipment, its not like oil exploration is so cheap and quick that you can just do it everywhere.
