The 100 and 400 track events are completely different animals. Most of the top 100 meter guys would peter out badly running the 400 against a true 400 meter runner. Last time I saw a 100 meter person doing well in the 400 was Marion Jones and we all know how that was done. Guess what I'm getting at is most events in track
seem best run by folk with a particular ratio of fast twitch/slow twitch muscle fibers. A 100 meter guy could never beat a marathon champion in the marathon and vice versa. Freestyle and Butterfly
over the same distance look like the same event to me.
