Hi Allen,

Welcome back!

Global Star and Iridium are building a satellite networks to provide worlwide cellular service which will begin to offer service in 1998. It is of little doubt that wireless telecommunications will be explosive for the years to come.

In one hand Globalstar is using CDMA technology and handsets supplied by Qualcomm (creator of cdmaone) and Orbitel (subsidiary of Ericsson) with Wind at heart and Loral Space Systems as a managing company. In other hand Iridium using TDMA technology is joining hand with Motorolla as a managing company.
Wind will be certainly playing a critical role in the Globalstar network for power management and circuitry availibility. How about Iridium? Is Wind playing any role in the Iridium-Motorolla combo?
Initial capacity is estimated to be something like 4 million subcribers and the price per minute call will be critical in this competive environment. So the success of either Globalstar and Iridium depend on TDMA and CDMA technologies and which embedded system they are using to manage the satellite power and circuitry availibility (satellite when orbits around the globe will be in the dark and sunlight zone and over populated and deserted area).

We all know that when Globalstar and Iridium satellite systems will be deploy in 1998, Wind will definitely be pushed to a new height. So when do you think that license fee from telecommunication will contribute in Wind earning?

Go where the Wind blows?

In other hand Qualcom, Motorolla, Loral Space, Globalatar, Iridium, et al present a very attractive investments for the years to come. Do you agree with this and how does it compare with pure Wind investment?
