8/22/08 update
Despite today's decent rally, the bears took this week's match. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -8.96% YTD (vs. -7.53% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 7.93% YTD (vs. up 11.11% YTD a week ago). The Contest portfolios were also lower for the week, the median closing down -7.89% YTD (vs. down -6.19% YTD a week ago).
At week's end, 12 of the 33 Contest portfolios were in the black YTD with 8 of the portfolios beating the NBI. Bucking the general downtrend, GENE's portfolio made further gains , closing the week with a multi-gold medal 114.5% YTD gain. ROBERT's portfolio held on to second place with a 41.7% YTD gain.
