Joe Biden? As the Kids Say, “LOL!” John Mark Reynolds Politics 08.22.2008 As the nominee of your party you (Senator Obama) have the power to put a man or woman a heartbeat from the presidency. You look all over America able to choose the person (other than yourself) most fit to be President of the United States. It is a primary with one voter and you can choose your own Socrates, since he need not win over the masses. You can choose anyone. You defeated the first serious female candidate for President of the United States and so many think you might balance your ticket with a qualified woman. You do not. You have every choice in America, but with all those choices: You choose a man who had to drop out of the 1988 campaign for a pattern of plagiarism. You choose a man who bragged about his grades (!) which managed to be both weird in a grownup and unfortunate . . . since his grades were abysmal. You choose a man whose nickname is “Slow Joe.” You choose a man who routinely makes grossly offensive remarks about minority groups. You choose a man who inspired one percent of Democrats to support him in 2008. You choose a man who believed you (the nominee) to be “clean” and “articulate” but “inexperienced.” You nominate a man who brings Delaware (which you were winning anyway) and the all important . . . ah. . . well, there is some group that finds Joe Biden appealing and likable and will now swing to Obama. Quick! Somebody name it. You choose another Senator with no executive experience: Joe Biden. Joe Biden is Gaffe-O-Matic and he is the only man in America who talks more than Bill Clinton. I will bet the first person to email me a case of Diet Coke that Slow Joe has a serious gaffe that distracts from the ticket before the month of September is over. I pity my friends (and they are not few) who thought Obama a new kind of candidate with the ability to reach beyond the stale to the new and fresh. They must be simply appalled that out of their whole party (full of Heath Schulers and Chet Edwards), Obama picked Slow Joe Biden. Other than picking Senator Clinton I cannot imagine a less inspiring and less “hope-change” choice. John McCain is the luckiest man in America. The ads for Biden make themselves and I guarantee you they are partying at McCain headquarters tonight. Joe Biden is the perfect case of a candidate that Washington insiders find appealing but that appalls the rest of the country. By the way: here is even money that as a senator from Delaware, there will be some fun financial contributions in his past. It is a great state for that kind of funding fun!
