The only thing a "decent" battery is going to do, in Shai Agassi's dream, is maybe reduce the number of his charging/changing stations required. What you don't seem to get is that the idea is to enable cross country driving without any more interruption than you now experience when you fill up with gasoline.

Improvements in battery technology, unless your are dreaming of infinite charge life, will not change the simple fact that any battery, regardless of design, will eventually need recharging. So, the "plan" is to make it easy to pick up another battery quickly without having to plug in and wait for the dead battery to recharge.

Do you get it now?
