Protein smoothies satisfy hunger very well for me.

I made some beef stew in a crock pot yesterday. I used lean stew meat, carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, and onions with a packet of brown gravy mix as a flavor starter.

I also like black bean soup that I make with half a cup of canned black beans with one and a half cups of water and lemon pepper all mixed in a blender. It's low-cal, high protein, and no cholesterol.

Canned tuna in spring water drained is great straight also.

As to why I'm not currently on a statin, I reacted badly to Lipitor and haven't returned yet for a different prescription as I mentioned earlier, but will have my cholesterol checked first to see if I still need it.

I took Zocor and later the generic Simvastatin without any problems, but the doctor switched me to Vytorin to try to get my cholesterol down further. When I read Vytorin might have problems, I requested Lipitor mainly because of Dr. Robert Jarvik's endorsement, but I reacted badly to it almost immediately. I haven't been back to the doctor since, but will be going back soon. I'm interested in my cholesterol level now with improved diet and more exercise without a statin. If I do resume statin treatment, I've already decided I'll go with the generic Simvastatin because my body tolerated it well, there is more history for it since Zocor is an older statin drug, and also because the generic is cheaper than the new drugs.
