Don't know which stores you've been to. In my experience, Korean-owned stores are no better or no worse than any other mom-n-pop shop.

The ones I am familiar with were.....they had dirty floors, cobwebs on the merchandise, poor quality of produce, damaged cans, exorbitant prices, food beyond its normal shelf life, etc.

And then there was the attitude.......you felt like they were doing you favor. Eventually, I refused to go anywhere near stores owned by people like them.

There is reason why blacks and Latinos went after Korean shop owners. There are not many shopping choices in the ghettos and barrios of LA.......the Korean stores were often the only stores available in the neighborhoods. Not that there was any justification for torching the stores. And unfortunately, good Korean people.....like the drycleaners I went to.....got tarred with the same brush.

Having said that, Koreans were not catering to a high end clientele. That doesn't mean the poor should be treated differently but you get jaded from getting ripped off and watching fools high on drugs looking stupid.
