What hath Bush really wrought in Iraq - Has the Surge really hurt US interests?

Right now Maliki is negotiating to throw US forces completely out by 2011 leaving no permanent bases in Iraq. Also despite massive pressure no Iraqi oil law favorable to US oil multi nationals has been passed. Further Maliki has established warm relations with Iran and actually has pledged to build a pipeline there to process Iraqi Oil.

Now Maliki has signed a contract with China to develop a massive oil field where the Chinese will not share in the profit but will be paid for expertise and technical help. This will be the future model for Iraqi oil - not some sweetheart deal with US interests where 50 year ownership contracts are signed.

So according to McCain the surge has worked because its allowed Maliki to grow a pair and give Bush the middle finger salute? It seems the surge has worked for Maliki and by extension his friends the Iranians and Chinese - but not so much for Bush.

Ironically Bush probably had way more power over Maliki back when Iraq was a disaster so the likely truth is the surge has hurt US interests.

Looks like the Iraq of the future will be American Military free and supplying oil to its friends Iran and China. I fail to see how thats in the best interests of America.

Any right wingers out there able to make sense of this? The supposedly liberal media that hates Bush has barely mentioned this angle.

Meanwhile the electorate argues over who's the biggest "elitist". Mark my worlds - the the candidate that turns out to be the worst will get elected. I mean I'm sure glad we didn't elect Kerry because he was a "gigolo/kept man" by his rich wife.
