I characterize it as an objective opinion, the keyword being opinion. I see no other valid reason for the disparaging terms being thrown around. I also characterize your reply as an attempt to find fault in my premise via contradiction, in other words, another attempt to knock someone down a peg. There are certainly MANY forums where any and all comments are welcome, I don't believe SI is one of them. They are privately owned and their terms are clear. I was responding to a post that seemed to take exception to negative posters being bounced. My point is there are reasons other than the simple fact that they are negative. It is the manner in which the opinion is delivered. I used the thread here as an example.
