Afganistan - AQ was there. And our attack was very different. It was more targeted. Less destructive. Not that there was a whole lot left there to destroy at that point but ya know. As to now? The poppy fields are larger than ever. The warlords took over again long ago. So what is our point now? If the Taliban reasserts, is that for us to deal with? If the issue is to have a hold there so we can deal with AQ on the Afgan/Pakastani border... perhaps. Can we actually go into Pakistan without invite? You get into that 'sovereign border' thing there. But AQ is a danger to most Muslims, since most aren't all that interested in being fundamentalist, certainly women aren't, and many of the men. My 'opinion' is we went into Afganistan after AQ, who aren't even Afgani. And we did little damage. It was quite a different thing than Iraq, who didn't have AQ there then. Or WMDs. Sorry, that was a bunch of blahblah off the top of my head.

As to Obama lying about it... I don't know. He gets rather puffy hawkish at times.
