Re GTE Dividend:

Like many investors I hold GTE because of it's growth potential and it's current dividend. It is a key component of the growth & income asset class in my portfolio.

WCOM is the telco holding in the more agressive growth asset class of my portfolio.

If GTE was to cut or discontinue it's dividend I would not have much interest in holding the stock. I think a lot of investors are in this same boat. GTE stock would get obiterated if it cut or discontinued it's dividend because so many of it's shareholders hold it for this reason.

Eventually a new class of shareholders would come along, but my guess it that GTE would still trade significantly lower than it does now.

Mr Lee has consistantly said he would form alliances based on their potential to enhance shareholder value. I could not see shareholders approving any merger/acquisition if it involved a cut in the dividend.
