I have been a GTE shareholder for a fairly long time, as well as a GTE customer, and I don't like airing the company's shortcomings in a public forum. BUT....

In early March of this year I contacted GTE and told them I wanted to switch from ATT long distance to GTE long distance.

In APRIL when I received my phone bill I saw that my long distance was still going via ATT. I called GTE, they apologized, gave me a credit for the difference in cost between my ATT calls and what they should have been with the GTE plan I selected. They assured me that GTE would be handling my long distance from that point on.

In SEPTEMBER when I received my phone bill I saw that my long distance was still going via ATT. I called GTE, they apologized, gave me a credit for the difference in cost between my ATT calls and what they should have been with the GTE plan I selected. They assured me that GTE would be handling my long distance from that point on.

In OCTOBER when I received my phone bill I saw that my long distance was still going via ATT. I called GTE, they apologized, gave me a credit for the difference in cost between my ATT calls and what they should have been with the GTE plan I selected. They assured me that GTE would be handling my long distance from that point on.

I have to wonder how many other customers are in the same boat as me. How many would be as determined to stick with GTE. If this is the way GTE is building it's customer base then I think we are all in trouble.

I hope someone from GTE sees this and puts my comments to good use. Or, maybe someone on this thread knows where this note might do some good, and will forward it there. You are welcome to do so.
