For comparison purposes, here is a photo of Kennedy's acceptance speech at the LA Coliseum: usatoday.com No stage set, just a podium with an eagle on it, and the audience behind him. I would think that having Barack Obama emerge in front of a stage set in a football arena has to send the subliminal message: this man is an entertainer.
