Whether it's the Lincoln Memorial or the West Wing, the Empty O is going to present himself as a combination of Britney Spears, Muhammad Ali, Martin Luther King, and Julius Caesar. The glitzy celebrity saviour of all citizens of the world. The One who comes forth to provide panem et circenses, in order to further his radical agenda.

He'll float like a butterfly.

Picture him emerging from the swirls of dry ice, to the background of Queen's We are the Champions:
youtube.com.

"We are the ones we've been waiting for."

He will try to offer a few concrete promises, but they will amount to nothing more than bread and circuses.

He needed to make a serious speech and show himself to be humble and respectful of the office he is seeking.

Instead, he decided to hold a circus, to speak in a stadium in a set created by Britney Spears' designer, and to appear as a rock star instead of a sober, respectable person in whom the Nation can entrust its fate.

Indeed, this spectacle might even rank lower than John Kerry's goofy "Reporting for Duty" stunt.
