that message was circulated on my e-mail thread, and the following resulted -

LOL - that means de facto that people can not sell anymore, since the floor price will deter buyers - meaning there won't be any trading at all.

this invites ruminations on 'what we do know and what we don't know'

what we don't know is why on earth the Saakashvili government attacked Ossetia in the first place. what did it hope to achieve? surely it must have been aware that the Russian army would kick its ass.

what we do know is that Mr. Scheunemann, McCain's campaign director is 1. a neoconservative (it's his holy duty to hate Russia) AND 2. a paid lobbyist for the Georgian government.

what we also know is that McCain has gained in the polls ever since the Georgia altercation started, and that the US media have gone along very nicely with the administration line on the whole incident (it's as if Russia had invaded Georgia unprovoked - you'd never know Ossetia was blown to bits first if you got your info solely from US TV stations).

and lastly, we do know that Putin has an annoying habit of blurting out inconvenient truths during press conferences. every hypocritical Western warmonger hates to be on the podium with him - chances are he will make the other guy look like a complete idiot (there was a classical press conference with Blair, where Putin took him to task over Iraq's non-existent WMD - boundlessly embarrassing for Blair, whose facial expressions were priceless)

it takes no brilliance to pin the blame on the guilty
and given the fuck-up ala bay of pigs

it would be foolish to claim the ex-cia was not involved in the planning

yep - what's infuriating about all of this is that 1. innocent people died (nary anyone gave or gives them a thought) and 2. apparently some people think it's alright to risk a major incident, that could potentially get out of hand, for the basest of goals.

clearly the neocons who have joined the McCain camp now want another warmonger in the WH, and will do everything to get him (remember, they think it's ok to 'lie to the people for a good cause'). meanwhile, Biden is the war party's Trojan horse in the Obama stable, just in case.
