Any news from the Alex Brown Tech conference?

orctf slipped the last couple of days along with market, but the volume seemed light...

>>The candidates for the 15% stake last summer could be: Lucent which selling ORCTF Hdsl in certain european markets...<<

Good point, had forgotten about Lucent... Think they would probably qualify, as a Telecommunications (equipment) Co... Went back and checked and for what it is worth, the article definitely described the potential investor as a "US Telecommunications Company". Oh well, guess we'll probably never know... here's the link

>>Transforming Telecom: The Big Switch...huge potential for companies like ORCTF<<

Tracked down the article, an interesting overview of the telecom business... Should anyone else be interested:

The discussion of China in the article, as "the market that counts", caused me to go back and look at my china/orctf notes. Besides representing orctf, Macroview Telecom, orctf's "marketing" partner, represents Cisco, Microsoft, Ascom... I don't attach any significance to this, but it's worth a look just to see all those logos together... <g>

In the questions with no answers (yet) department.. any ideas on who orctf might be marketing with for hdsl in south america?

Orctf product has been sold in Columbia, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina. Seems like they are working with someone... Italtel and Lucent are the first two names that come to mind.... both have extensive south american sales forces. Another might be GETEL/SAT (Groupe Sagem), but don't know (and can't find info) if they are in south america. On the other hand it may be one of the Brazillian telecoms?? Two were listed as two of the eleven principal end-users of the Company's HDSL products in 96.

Total 1996 South American Revenues were only a little over $1 million... not much revenue for an established hdsl company, but for orctf, this was about 8% of their total revenues... and... a million here and a million there adds up to real money... as an emerging market, could be opportunity knocking... and orctf does keep advertising for spanish speaking employees...
