DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

Gustav reached hurricane strength Friday afternoon as it moves toward the Cayman Islands, reports the National Hurricane Center. The NHC said reconnaissance aircraft found the storm's winds near 75 miles an hour. Earlier, the NHC said Gustav was centered about 125 miles east-southeast of Grand Cayman and 425 miles from the western tip of Cuba. It was moving west-northwest at about 11 miles an hour, on a course that could put it over Cuba Saturday and into the Gulf of Mexico Sunday.
