She certainly has more executive experience handling large bureauocracies than Obama has had.
If Obama is qualified for Pres then she is more than qualified for V Pres.
That is just ... The AK govt isn't exactly a "large bureaucracy." But, let's grant that is. We don't have a clue what kind of job she actually did. Just because she has a title and, frankly, just because she has a high satisfaction rating from the voters in AK doesn't mean that she is qualified for governing this country. AK is a unique state. They call us the "lower 48," and are effectively a one party state that loves to think of itself as rugged and individualistic, but pays its people money that it collects from oil revenues rather than collecting taxes. And they still get plenty of pork from the federal goverment to boot, far more than they send to Washington thanks to Don Young and Ted Stevens (yeah, the latter is indicted, and the former is under investigation). She has gotten press for eliminating the Bridge to Nowhere, but if you read an earlier post on this thread, the story is actually far different from that--she didn't mind the Bridge as long as the Federal government was paying for it, nor did she mind Federal pork if she could get it. Quite a principled lady and philosophical bunch of people.
She has no foreign policy experience, and was quoted as saying yesterday that she hasn't thought much about Iraq. I suppose that doesn't mean that she hasn't thought about, say, Georgia, or, say, NATO, or South America, but somehow I doubt it. It's great that she and Obama could play basketball together, but that doesn't mean either one of them is qualified for P or VP.
You appear to believe that titles mean something, but I think thoughtfulness and the ability to build a team that works well together and accomplishes goals is even more important. The team that Obama has built in this election has done pretty well so far in that regard. That doesn't mean that he will be able to build a team that can govern well, but my guess is that he will be able to do it. I think he has good judgement about people. And he has thought about the process of governing this country. Those are the things that qualify him to be president. |
