McCain's decision was geared towards securing votes. Obama's was to fortify the requirements of a President's job.

Obama is thinking more about what he needs to do in the office. McCain is thinking how he will get into that office.

Obama knows that he has the party behind him (including Hillary supporters). McCain is unsure if the base of the party supports him. And his choice of Palin is to ensure he has the party's support.

A McCain who is still in doubt. A Obama with a clear vision that he articulated in his speech yesterday which drew a TV viewership, larger than that of the Olympic opening ceremony or the final Night of the American Idol. 36 million viewers. Can McCain match that leave alone beating that.
