I think once the honeymoon with her is over, Palin's lack of experience and her social views will be substantial problems for McCain, who is no spring chicken.

I would preferred a VP who is strong on economic issues. The GOP ticket is extremely weak in this regard. But so is the Dem's. Accordingly, those of us who I think correctly see looming fiscal and financial issues as our biggest problems will be disappointed in both tickets.

McCain must have felt that he needed to appeal to the ultra-'conservative' religious base. Damn shame, in my mind. They are never going to vote for Obama. Their influence on the GOP needs to be curtailed.
