Patricia, Patricia, Patricia....
After reading your post I tried and tried to find the common denominator between your avid support for Hillary and your emerging support for McCain/Palin.
Aside from the fact that Palin and Hillary Clinton are women, what makes you set the standard for supporting a right wing, ideologically rigid candidate so low?
What makes you want a person one step from the white house who seems to believe in creationism, seems to disbelieve that man is seriously affecting climate change, seems to have little curiosity about the world stage and who has demonstrated absolutely no insight into the many nuanced positions that we'll have to take to address word problems like terrorism and globalism? (And please don't repeat your statement that I love her feisty personality. Palin shoots, hunts, fishes and is "my kind of woman" in that respect." We surely don't need a Cheney with a different chromosome.)
Haven't we already seen what 8 years of that kind of "thinking" will do for us?
I read your recitation of the bullet points from the Republican spinners, many of which simply turn logic on it's head, but the one that really had me shaking my head in disbelief was the one where you asserted that, "Palin's experience as Gov of a state trumps Obama's experience..."
So I'll ask one more question; can you honestly say that you believe that Palin's 20 months of experience as first term governor of an Alaska that reaped huge oil windfalls which negated the need for tough fiscal choices, her few years as the mayor of a town with a total population smaller than that of thousands of local school districts and her degree in journalism really trump Obama's years of intellectual engagement on critical issues, his law school degree from the best law school this country has, his years as a state legislator, his experience in the U.S. Senate, his multicultural background growing to manhood and his exposure to the ideas and the people he met in the pressure cooker of almost two years of running for President of the U.S.?
It's a tough question only if you don't like the answer. Ed |
