The junior senator wouldn't be expected to do much except show up and vote how she is told most of the time, which is pretty much what she would do as VP too, unless McCain suddenly croaks and she is surrounded by people saying, OK, how do we run the country now? Are you ready to be in charge? Too late then to realize it wasn't a good idea putting a pol from the boonies right in the heart of things with no experience to guide her.
