The thread usually tries to avoid this kind of exchange, since it's not very fruitful, but there was a poster at PfP who referred three times in one post to the Black Boy and said that would be his name for the "phony". Not only did no one make even the mildest rebuke to this tasteless post, but it got three recommendations.
The term is unequivocally offensive whether it's used by an very old Southern president or a RWer, and I doubt anyone here would defend Carter's use of it.
So nothing "gives".
