Chinu:
If koan did so then he is as confused as McCain is. On one hand, McCain supports the oil companies by advocating off shore drilling. But his pick for VP is against the oil companies. Seems to me "I was for it before I was against it." scenario.

As Kerry pointed out, McCain needs to debate and finish the debate with himself before he decides to debate Barack.

koan: I do not think I am confused-lol. Tony Knowles is the best politician in Alaska and a very decent and intelligent man. Mark Begisch is as good and both were mayors of Anchorage.

First as the other Alaskan on this thread pointd out, you cannot run for public office if you are against drillig in ANWR. But truth be told, I am in favor of drilling in ANWR anyway.

Of course I am sure I am the only one on this thread who has actually spent months inside the Artic national Wildlife area. The oil companies are so careful up here it boarders on the ridiculaous. They will not even put one tractor print on the tundra that is not agreed on by 10,000 inspectors.

The north slope is wild beyond anyones wildest imaginations and taking the oil and gas out will not change that or hurt it at all. IMO.

Let them drill, take out the oil and gas and then leave. The cariboo huddle up against the pipeline in the cold winters to get warm and get out of the wind, so they will appreciate the respit and the foxs and other small animals will love any empty barrels that may be lieing around to find sheltor in.

I am kidding, but the oil production up here has done no harm. The cariboo heards I believe have been increasing quite strongly since the pipleine was built.

I am a radical enviromentalist, but my first commitment has always been to tell the truth as best as I can.
