Am I correct that there will be trading this afternoon in energy futures? I wonder if some of these shorts will be running for cover:
DJ CFTC: Gas Speculators Boost Short Position NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Large non-commercial traders added long and short contracts to their natural gas futures positions during the week ended Aug. 26, bolstering their short position, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission reported Friday.
Speculative, or non-commercial, traders added 2,417 contracts to their long position in futures-only contracts and 11,425 contracts to their short position, resulting in a net short position of 156,144 contracts, 9,008 above last week's total.
In futures and options combined, non-commercial traders were net short by 230,329 contracts, 28,268 more than the previous week.
Commercial traders were net long in futures-only contracts by 110,614 contracts, 5,113 more than last week, after adding long and cutting short contracts. Such traders increased their long position by 1,004 contracts and reduced their short position by 4,109 contracts.
