Vintner: One things the left absolutely positively can't be wrong about (if Obama wins and the Dems control both houses of congress) is the absolute need for fiscal discipline. They just can't start throwing money around as is they are want to do when there is no other party in place to check them.

KOAN: with the exception of LBJ's gunns and butter policy the idea the dems are the big spenders is a myth. Look what clinton did.

Dems usually have the sense to hire the best economists in the country and follow their advice. Simple as that. Almost all of the huge deficit we have right now was given to us by the Republicans over the last 30 years-(now 17 trillion dollars including domestic and foreign deficits) and started with Reagan and his discredited supply side economics BS. Let the poor eat the crumbs!

It drives me nuts this myth abouth how great Reagan was. We owed only about one trillion dollars in 1980 and Carter was running deficits of only about 50 billion a year. Despite the recession.

The first year Reagan was in offfice he ballooned the deficit to 250 billion by cutting the taxes on the rich by 100 billion a year and increasing defense spending by 100 billion a year. Increasing defense spending is really a trick to get money to the large corporations (who got him elected-they picked him to carry their water)) like flour, etc which were run by most of his inner circle. His kitchen cabinate.

Who can stand against defense spending (mothers milk and apple pie. It was all a ruse to fool people. Conservatives fell for it hook line and sinker. As they always do.

Reagan was the perfect example of the military industrial compex run amok. But bush out did him-lol.
