Rambi,

I just reviewed Palin's recent bridge comments and had a hearty chuckle over the way she blew it. Her handlers need to pull her aside and thoroughly scrub her talking points, and then deploy her into failsafe venues for a while.

As for the Ketchikan bridge politics, keep in mind that she was just an insignificant puppy when she challenged the Alaska power structure in 2006. She HAD to support the bridge during the governor's race because all the major politicians and much of the electorate still believed in it.

But realists like myself already knew the bridge was toast by the fall 2005. With over-ambitious dreams, soaring construction costs, and declining funding, the handwriting was on the wall. But after taking office in late 2006, she was just a rookie governor dealing with powerful entrenched politicians like Stevens and Young. Her power gradually grew, theirs waned, and she finally cancelled the bridge in September 2007. Big dreams die hard...

Palin touts stance on 'Bridge to Nowhere,' doesn't note flip-flop
