I think you have hit upon exactly the Rovian tactics at work with the Palin pick.

I don't think it's going to work, though. What they've succeeded in doing is making Obama look more Presidential in comparison with both McCain and Palin.

Tthey did succeed, with both the timing and the controversial nature of Palin's selection, in dominating the political discussion. But I wouldn't get too excited about that if I were a Republican. It seems like the McCain campaign made a tactical choice when they should have been strategic.

Where did you get that quote about Lincoln, by the way?
